Programs
Seven connected areas of work carry ASCO's mission into communities — from dialogue and education to lawful public advocacy.
Facilitating constructive conversation between communities to build understanding and resolve tension through dialogue, not division.
Building understanding of civic rights and responsibilities, so people can engage confidently in the decisions that shape their lives.
Challenging xenophobic narratives and collective blame, and promoting the message that criminality has no nationality.
Engaging institutions and decision-makers to advance social justice, accountability, and inclusive development.
Building working relationships with community organisations, faith-based groups, government, and civil society.
Equipping young people with the skills and platforms to lead civic initiatives in their own communities.
Organising lawful, peaceful demonstrations that give communities a visible, disciplined voice on the issues that affect them.
Recent Activities
A public awareness campaign calling for the rejection of xenophobic violence and vigilantism, and for immigration matters to be handled by state institutions under the rule of law — not by mobs.
In June 2026, ASCO joined the "Soil of Africa" peaceful demonstration in Pretoria CBD, standing for unity, dignity, and humanity, and calling on government to protect all who call South Africa home.
How We Work
Every initiative starts with the community that will live with the outcome — their priorities set the agenda.
We favour solutions that can be tested, measured, and adapted, rather than one-size-fits-all interventions.
We design programs that can be carried forward by communities themselves, not initiatives that end when we leave.
